Fall Career Workshops

 

This Fall the ACCelerator is hosting Career Readiness workshops that are free and available to ALL ACC students – credit-seeking, non-credit seeking, Adult Education, Continuing Education, and alumni are all invited to come and learn best practices for resume review, portfolio building and more! No early sign up is required at this time.

Career Decision Making – It’s easy to become unsure or second-guess your career or major decisions – find out how to gain career clarity in this 1-hour workshop!

 Success in Your New Job – So you got the job offer – now what? Get tips on salary negotiation, navigating difficult coworkers and what things to prioritize during your first few months on the job.

 Resumes & Cover Letters – A detailed overview of the science and art behind resume and cover letter composition. Bring your own documents with you, and get ready to perfect these crucial career tools!

Networking & Interview Skills – Refine your people skills for job interviews and more! This workshop covers how to gather and give career information with confidence as part of the ACCelerator’s Career Readiness Series. 

Personal Branding & LinkedIn – Get control over the way you market your career using LinkedIn and other online tools! Learn about professional portfolios and become the CEO of your personal brand in this 1-hour workshop.

On August 9th, 2017, from 6-8pm, the ACCelerator will host it’s first Liberal Arts & Non-profit Networking event! Join us and community professionals for a night of advice, recommendations, and tips for students pursuing the following industries:

  • Teaching
  • Non-profit work
  • Government
  • Political/Social Sciences
  • Psychology
  • Translation/Interpreting Services
  • Writing/Blogging
  • and more!

Get to know the real-life experiences of professionals, raw and uncut! Questions about travel, salary, mistakes they’ve made, successes and failures are ALL welcome!

Indeed Job Squad Event (Past)

On Friday, June 2nd, Indeed Austin’s Job Squad came to the Highland ACCelerator to talk about all things relevant to the 21st century job hunter!

Indeed’s Job Squad discussed the importance of a solid online presence, how to use Indeed to get to know about corporations near you , and how to search for job opportunities using all of Indeed’s amazing features.

Students got a chance to get individual help from the Indeed squad, setting up their profiles, checking out Austin job trends and looking for local work, all in one hour! Pretty impressive indeed!

Thank you Indeed Job Squad and ACC Career Services for setting up this awesome opportunity for all ACC students and alum! Looking forward to seeing the squad soon!

Job Fair & Career Exploration Event (Past)

On April 7th, 2017, the HLC ACCelerator hosted ACC’s Job Fair & Career Exploration Event.

The event featured over 100 area employers, representative advisors from each Area of Study, and of course, our ACC students!

Students got the chance to get to know employers and recruiters, impress companies with their resumes and cover letters, and find out more about different industries in Austin and what it takes to get employed.
