HR Benefits will host a Summer Insurance Enrollment Q&A webinar on July 6th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at that will review this year’s changes and give you a chance to ask questions. The webinar will be recorded and posted for future viewing for those of you attending the APTE BBQ tomorrow.

APTE Elections, Summer BBQ, and more!

Dear APTE Membership,

We are excited to share some news with you about upcoming reminders and deadlines. Please read below and mark your calendars!

  • 2017 APTE SUMMER BBQ Celebration – Thursday, July 6th at HBC ROOM 201 – 11:30am-1:00pm.
    APTE members must reply to RSVP in order to attend. RSVP Deadline is Friday, June 30th at 6:00pm.

    Vote now for your new APTE Leadership between Friday, June 23rd – Thursday, July 6th.  The election form has been emailed to APTE members.
    Winners will be announced at the 2017 APTE SUMMER BBQ Celebration July 6th.  A short statement from each nominee has been made available. Please visit the APTE Nominations page for more information on nominees.
  • Supervisor Certificate Program – Application Process going on NOW!Applications will be accepted until Monday, July 10th at 5 pm.
    The Supervisor Certificate Program provides non-faculty employees with basic supervisory knowledge and experience. Upon completion of the program the employee gets credit for one year supervisory experience towards ACC posted supervisory positions. This program is designed for ACC employees with limited supervisor experience and employees who have identified a supervisory position in their future career path.

Shared Governance Committee Nominations

APTE is seeking nominations for the upcoming academic year!

We need your help in shaping the future of the Austin Community College. As you know, shared governance is a valued tradition at our college, and service is a core part of our mission. We encourage all APTE members to participate in shared governance.

If you would like to serve on a Shared Governance Committee, you may self-nominate. If you know someone who you think would best represent your constituency in one of these bodies, please nominate them if there is a position available.  For additional information about each of the Shared Governance bodies, please review the committees by clicking the links on the left menu

APTE Luncheon details and further educational opportunities

APTE Luncheon Thursday May 25th, 2017 (11:30 AM- 1:00 PM):
I am pleased to announce this year’s APTE Luncheon speaker, Dr. Kavita Murthy. Dr. Murthy recently completed an ACC workshop series on resiliency that was sponsored by the wellness office headed by Gina Akin. Dr. Murthy will speaking on the value of effective communication in the workplace as well as providing some tools on how we can all be better communicators. I hope you all can join us on Thursday, May 25th, from 11:30a.m. – 1:00p.m. at the Holiday Inn Midtown right next door to ACC Highland Business Center.

Educational Opportunities from HR:
1. Online MBA program at Angelo State. The session is happening May 4th at  ACC Cypress campus at 5:30 pm.

2. Ferris State University will be here at HLC/ACCelerator CR-1101 on June 2nd for a lunch and learn to talk about their Texas Doctoral Cohort for Community College Leadership.

They are interested in meeting with faculty and staff on who might be possible candidates for the program. Their first cohort will begin in Jan. 2018.

Presidential Student Achievement Award Nominations

Each semester one (1) eligible graduation candidate is recognized for their outstanding commitment to academic success, service and active involvement in the community, through the most prestigious award given, the Presidential Student Achievement Award.
The winner of this award will receive a $500 scholarship, a letter of recommendation from the President of the college and is provided the opportunity to address the graduating class during Commencement.
Eligible candidates must have a 3.5+ cumulative GPA and meet satisfactory level of financial & academic responsibility & be in good standing with student Code of Conduct.

*Nominations only accepted from current ACC faculty, staff or students (we will not not accept self-nominations).
