Upcoming Opportunity!

Peace and Conflict Studies Symposium: The Borders of Belonging: Art, Conflict Transformation & Peace

The symposium will feature a juried art exhibition.

Deadline to Apply: Monday, March 25
Exhibition dates: April 12 at EVC and April 17 –May 20 at HLC

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit works related to the theme of borders. Borders can be physical or political boundaries that divide or mark-out geographic areas. They can be personal or interpersonal–boundaries established by social norms, practices, or concepts, invisible to the eye, but able to compel or direct behavior. In addition, borders can be spiritual, ideological, intellectual, or scientific in nature, indicating the limits of what is possible. Historically, and in our society today, borders are crossed, challenged, enforced, or eliminated. As borders are contested or negotiated, the need for conflict resolution arises, and with it a reshaping of identity and a new search for belonging.
