CRPT 1441 Conventional Exterior Finish Systems

Skill development in the installation of exterior finish systems and components including the placement and installation of cornice, windows, doors, siding, and flashing. Emphasis on safe work practices and the selection, use, and maintenance of tools and equipment.

This class works on a one bedroom building constructed by a prior Conventional Wall Systems class. Students add a roof (shingle or metal), windows, doors, flashing and siding. Students learn how to safely set up and use scaffolding and when working above ground also wear a harness that is connected to a fall protection system.

Students may get practice installing at least two types of siding: T-111, Hardi planks and/or batten board siding. They may also apply stucco to an area of the building.

Course syllabus is available on the current semester’s schedule page
