REQUESTS FOR PERMISSION TO REGISTER FOR THE A&P I (BIOL 2401) and BIOLOGY FUNDAMENTALS (BIOL 1308) PAIRED COURSES MUST BE SUBMITTED WITHIN TESTING DATES. REQUESTS SENT OUTSIDE OF THE TESTING DATES WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.
About Paired Anatomy & Physiology I and Biology Fundamentals
The BIOL 2401 and BIOL 1308 classes are paired together by the Biology Department (students do not mix and match their own BIOL 2401 and BIOL 1308 classes) and taught in an integrated manner, allowing students to take both courses simultaneously during a single semester and earn a unified grade for both.
Students will not be allowed to only register for BIOL 2401 if it is a paired section or vice versa for BIOL 1308. NO EXCEPTIONS. The Biology department will not offer waitlists for any of the paired BIOL 2401/BIOL 1308 and cannot overload any face-to-face sections due to lab safety regulations. The class schedules vary between campus and semesters. These classes are offered during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
The paired courses are specifically tailored for students who encounter challenges that could otherwise hinder them from meeting the requirements for the program they aspire to enroll in. These paired courses are also intended for students who have experienced difficulty in passing the A&P assessment or those who want to finish BIOL 1308 without postponing their completion of BIOL 2401.
How To Get Permission to Register for Paired Courses
Follow these steps:
1.) Ensure you have an ACCeID.
2.) Activate your ACC email account.
3.) Make sure you will be TSI complete by the first day of class. NO EXCEPTIONS.
4.) Request permission through the Google Form.
Please note that permission is granted for ONE semester only; you will need to request it again for subsequent semesters. Every student requesting permission for the paired BIOL 2401 and BIOL 1308 will be granted permission.
Students are granted permission to register on a first come first serve basis. This process takes 3-5 business days from the time that students submit their requests. Please note that you will NOT be notified when your permission is complete. Students can tell if they have permission by attempting to register for their preferred paired course. If it has been more than 5 business days since you submitted your request and you are still unable to register, please contact the Biology department at (512) 223-3322 as there may have been an issue in processing your request.
For Fall 2023, the Biology Department is offering 18 paired sections of BIOL 2401 and BIOL 1308. Students will not be allowed to only register for BIOL 2401 if it is a paired section. NO EXCEPTIONS.
