More and more college and universities are aligning their teams to tackle the changing needs of communication through their organization. The emergence of the “Web Team” or, at least more than one person in a department that interacts with designing, developing, or editing web content in some way is becoming commonplace.
There is a heavy mix now between marketing departments and information technology departments. Often these two departments could have been at odds. Now these areas work together SO much that they are in fact, blending together in some larger institutions.
The director of print and on-line publications sent me a list of institutions that had such teams. I’ve seen quite a few lists myself on various website discussion forums and have taken a few notes from these when developing descriptions and so forth. Here are a few that she highlighted for me, and a few that I liked as well. Hopefully as we move forward our own “Web Team” will emerge.
- TCU Marketing & Communication – Website management
- Texas Tech Office of Communications & Marketing – Web Communications
- St. Edward’s University – St. Edward’s University Web Team
- Regent University – University Web Team (Prime example of blending of departments)
