At Rio Grande Campus, crews have completed pouring walls at the north basement mechanical room and are working on electrical and telecom systems. Metal wall framing also has gone up on the second and third floors, walls are being installed in the south atrium, and crews are pouring columns in the campus ACCelerator. In the coming weeks, work will focus on window removal and duct installation.
At ACC Highland Phase 2, construction teams continue work on framing, steel erection, and the exterior shell. Exterior window installation also continues, along with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work.
Austin Community College will begin the process of developing a site master plan for the approximately 124 acres of land purchased in southeast Travis County as part of the 2014 bond project.
The college plans to use the site for a future regional workforce center that will provide much-needed space for programs such as automotive technology, building construction technology, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, welding technology, jewelry, and more.
The $10.5 million purchase is financed through bonds approved by voters in November 2014.
ACC will celebrate the grand opening of Round Rock Campus Phase 2 at a ribbon-cutting ceremony 10 to 11: 30 a.m. Wednesday, September 26.
The event will feature a brief program and tours of the new building. Phase 2 includes the college’s third ACCelerator learning environment, general education classrooms and labs, and a social staircase.
The community also is invited to tour all of Round Rock Campus and explore the programs and facilities that are available.
On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, ACC unveiled its new emergency response training facility during the grand opening celebration of Hays Campus Phase 2. The new Public Safety Training Center features advanced training facilities for first responders including a force-on-force room, a firing range, and an emergency vehicle operator course (EVOC) along with specialty classrooms.
The expansion at Hays Campus provides advanced facilities for ACC students in first responders programs as well as law enforcement agencies in the region.
The Public Safety Training Center at Hays Campus was the college’s third grand opening celebration of projects funded by the 2014 GO bonds.
Student Services is now open at San Gabriel Campus. Current and prospective students may meet with advisors, counselors, and Admissions and Records.
The testing center also is now open.
Classes begin at San Gabriel Campus in fall.
ACC celebrated the grand opening of San Gabriel Campus in Leander with a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 30.
The event featured guest speakers Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC President/CEO, U.S. Representative John Carter, State Rep. Tony Dale, State Rep. Paul Workman, Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long, Leander Mayor Chris Fielder, Leander ISD Superintendent Dr. Dan Troxell, ACC Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Barbara Mink, Leander High School Senior Misty Valencia, and performances by the Running Brushy Middle School Jazz Band and Rouse High School Drumline.
The new campus will serve one of the fastest-growing areas in the region and relieve crowding at ACC’s Cypress Creek Campus. The campus primarily will offer general education courses and include the college’s second ACCelerator learning center as well as a 3,900 square-foot rooftop terrace.
San Gabriel Campus opens for classes fall 2018.

Three architectural/engineering firm finalists — Studio 8 Architects, Page, and Stantec Architecture — presented proposals to ACC’s Board of Trustees. Selection is expected in November.
