Austin Community College’s Creative Design Technologies program is all about training students for the local and national job market. Our top-notch faculty is a who’s who of local talent, hardwired into the latest trends and eager to give you the real-world expertise and know-how that comes from years of experience in the business. Our degree and certificate programs are designed by a committee of local digital industry pros preparing you to jump into the creative and rewarding fields of game development, animation, and motion graphics. Classes in the our department can benefit students just out of high school, people who’d like a change of career, and professionals in the industry who wish to update their creative and technical skills.

Adobe Creative Campus

Austin Community College is the FIRST community college in the nation designated as an Adobe Creative Campus. As an ACC Creative Design Technologies student the Adobe Creative Cloud is now available to at no-to-minimal cost. This suite of products gives you unlimited access to industry-leading creation tools for graphic design, video editing, and web development such as Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Premiere Pro, Spark and more. Open Lab Hours

Open lab time is available to registered CDT students in classrooms at the Northridge and Highland campuses. Open lab hours are posted on the door to each classroom and will change each semester based on availability. In addition, tutoring is available during certain open lab hours.

Open lab time is for CDT class assignments only; do not use it for non-departmental classes, personal, or outside work. Open lab rules are posted in each room. Failure to comply with these rules may result in loss of open lab privileges.

Advising

CDT students are encouraged to make an appointment to meet with a department advisor. Advisors will be able to describe the various degrees, answer your questions, and assist you in mapping out a course schedule. They can also help you with possible transfer credits from other schools and ensure you are meeting all the requirements to graduate.

Students wishing to enter any of our programs of study are not required to have art, design or computer experience, although it is helpful. We hope you will bring enthusiasm to our classes as well as a willingness to communicate, to solve problems creatively, to work in teams, and to commit to learning.

Transfer Students

General ACC advisers are not always aware of changes to our degree plans, since we regularly update requirements in order to teach you the most current skills possible.

Our goal is to help you find the quickest and least expensive path to your educational goal. Advisers are available too:

  • help you select your classes
  • determine if classes you’ve taken at another college can be applied to your
    degree plan
  • assist with financial aid appeals
  • answer questions about course numbers and changes to degree plans
  • help you determine when you will graduate
