MUSI 1183 and 1184 Voice Class 

Singers who are new to choral singing are strongly encouraged to take a semester of Voice Class to develop confidence and skills needed to be comfortable and successful in choir. This class is taught by one of the most respected and experienced vocal coaches in the Austin area. Below is a course description for MUSI 1183 and MUSI 1184

Course Description: Voice class is designed to improve each student’s singing voice and develop the ability to sing with and in front of others. During their course of study, they will be taught the fundamentals of healthy vocal production which includes the following:  1) proper posture and breathing to sing, 2)  tone production,  3)  diction,  4) expression, and 5)  gaining confidence.  Fundamentals of reading music will be taught as well. Individual vocal problems will be assessed and exercises will be given to help strengthen and improve the voice. Students will singing together and also individually for class.


MUAP 1281 Applied – Voice (Private Voice Lessons) The process for signing up for a voice teacher is to contact the teacher that you want to study with, find out if they have room for you in their schedule and then they will tell you what to do to get officially registered.

Our teachers are happy to schedule a lesson, just to see if you are well matched. Some teachers will be a better match for you than others, or the scheduling might be better. Do contact them for a “demo” lesson and see what you think.

IMPORTANT: The registration cut-off date for private lessons is one week earlier than the regular registration cut-off date. Please ask the teacher when the cut-off date is for each semester.
