Dear Faculty Colleagues,

There is a lot to report this week, so please take a peek. We’ve also got a senate meeting this Friday that is chock full of opportunities for discussion. Please consider getting more involved in your faculty senate by joining us at the meeting.

Senate Meetings / Minutes / Agendas

Senate Meeting – 11/8/19 – noon to 2pm HLC 2101 – The agenda for our next Senate meeting is now complete. It has been posted on the senate website “meetings” page as well. All Full-Time Faculty are invited to attend. Lunch will be served and professional development credit awarded.

President and Cabinet Meeting – 11/8/19 – The Agenda for our meeting this Friday with President Richard Rhodes has been posted on our website. If you want to know more about the issues Faculty Senate is bringing to administration, take a peek.

Academic and Student Affairs Council – Important Outcomes – At the November 1st meeting, several decisions affecting faculty were made. Complete outcomes will be available when minutes are posted, and you can check out all the original proposals on the ASAC website.

  • 2020 – 2021 Academic Calendar – approved
  • Proposed Administrative Rule on D Grade – The college plans to stop accepting D grades for credit. – approved
  • Proposed Testing Center Usage Criteria – In response to faculty comments, the report of the testing center workgroup was approved, but with some adjustments:
    • Retesting WILL be allowed at testing centers
    • Makeups WILL be allowed at their original level (25% of students)
  • Proposed AR Guideline on Non-Grade Related Student Complaints – approved

ACC Board Meeting – 11/4/19 – At the most recent board meeting, it was announced that ACC had received several bids for the 9 acres at the Pinnacle campus surrounding the now closed building. The board voted to REJECT all of the bids. If you are interested in issues surrounding the Pinnacle Campus and the southern ACC region, please note that two Southwest Austin Community Conversations have been scheduled. Both will be held at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church (across from Pinnacle). You can attend either meeting: Monday, December 2 @ 8:30-10am or Tuesday, December 3 @ 6-7:30pm. Tech Update – In response to faculty concerns about changes to technology purchasing and other issues, our IT department has begun a newsletter to increase opportunities for communication with the college. You should have received a copy in your email. New Email Address for Faculty Senate Officers – To ensure continuity from one senate year to the next, we’ve now created an email address to be shared by all officers of the senate. If you wish to email your Faculty Senate Officers all at once, please email [email protected].
