Newsworthy

The Academic Master Planning (AMP) process will kick off Tomorrow, January 15, with meetings for Department Chairs, Deans, and the Steering Committee. The Faculty Senate requested more representation in the AMP process, and was pleased to be offered several spots on both of the groups overseeing this work. We now have Senate representatives on the Steering Committee (Wayne Butler, Samantha Croft, and Yam Tolan) as well as on the Executive Committee (Missi Patterson). Please reach out to these Senate representatives if you have thoughts about the AMP process. In addition, you can keep an eye on all that is being done on the new AMP website. Reach out to your department chair or dean if you want to be a part of your Area of Study team!

Thanks to Dr. Rhodes! At our December 13th Senate meeting, the Senate voted to formally thank Dr. Rhodes for his December 10 memo on ACC Values. We have now sent an email to Dr. Rhodes sharing our appreciation for his work highlighting collaboration at the college, and also shared our gratitude at last night’s ACC Board meeting.

ACC Board Meeting – 1/13/20 – agenda

Items of note from the meeting:

• An agreement with KRLU (Austin PBS) has been signed. They will move in to Highland Campus in Fall of 2020, and will begin partnering with ACC to offer opportunities for students and others.

• A report was given on the success of the TAMU Chevron Engineering Academy. It ensures that ACC students have automatic admission into the Texas A&M Schools of Engineering if they successfully complete this program. Do you have students who want to become engineers? Let them know about the program – applications are open now!

• The ACC board approved a list of Federal Legislative priorities. You can take a peek at the agenda above to see the complete list.

• The board also approved some new local policies on preventing Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation for both employees and students. You can see the specific language adopted in the agenda above.

• SCHOLARSHIPS!!! Something I learned at the board meeting is that the ACC Foundation has ONE APPLICATION for all 700 scholarships they offer our students. Applications open on January 15, so please let your students know about them. There is help to complete the applications available at every ACCelerator. Students can view THIS PAGE to see the application, and to get help to apply.
