THE SENATE STANDARD – ISSUE 2.14

ACC Full-Time Faculty Senate Website

ACC Coronavirus page

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving break and had some time to connect with loved ones (at a distance, with a mask, outside, or online!) and catch your breath a bit. I, for one, did not Zoom for four days! With Fall 2020 final grades due on W 12/16, we’re exactly two weeks away from winter break. We have few action items to take care of before we wrap things up. First, we need agenda items for the upcoming 12/11 senate meeting. Please get your agenda suggestions to me by Friday, 12/4. Also, the FTFS is holding a Special Election to replace an elected senator who left ACC, as well as a few seats we couldn’t fill under the old bylaws. See below under New Action Items for the call for nominations, due by 5P on M 12/7. Also under New Action Items, find a call for a last push on Giving Tuesday (we’re only $245 from our goal!), as well as a link to the donation form. Donations close at 11:59P tonight, T 12/1. Look under Current Action Items for reminders about the TLED professional development opportunities announced last week.

Be safe. Take care of yourself, so you can take care of others.

Senate Meetings / Minutes / Agendas

12/11/20 Senate Meeting, noon – 1:30 pm –This is the final call for agenda items for our next monthly Senate meeting. Please send items for consideration to me at [email protected] or to your campus senator by Friday, December 4th. Find details on how to join this meeting online on the Senate Calendar. You can also add the event (and online joining details) to your own calendar by clicking on the 12/11/20 Senate Meeting link above.

11/13/20 Senate Meeting – The minutes for this meeting have been approved by the Full-Time Faculty Senate Senators (22 approved, with slight changes; 0 abstentions, 0 approved as is, 0 disapproved). Requested changes were made regarding a senator straw poll about video conference usage. You can view the minutes here.

New Action Items [please check due dates below!]

Giving Tuesday [due T 12/1]: ACC is only $245 dollars shy of our goal to hit the $5,000 Giving Tuesday mark. The funds raised will provide much needed student scholarships through the ACC Foundation. Donations close at 11:59P tonight! GIVE NOW!

Senator Special Election:  Call for Nominations [due 12/7 @ 5P]: We had one elected senator resign upon accepting a non-ACC position. Also, a few slots were never filled under the old bylaws. So, time for a special election to replace and fill senator seats. The first step is to solicit nominations. You can self-nominate or nominate a colleague. Visit the FTFS Bylaws regarding eligibility. If you want to learn more about the special election process, scroll through the bylaws until you see the heading Article IV: Elections, Section 2, Special Elections. See the action item below from Professor Jennifer Brimberry, Chair of the Nominations FTFS Standing Committee.
