THE SENATE STANDARD – ISSUE 46
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
This is my second to last Senate Standard. Incoming Senate President, Wayne Butler, will be taking over as President next week. I’m very excited to support him in his leadership.
Since this week we have a lot of information, I’ll save my good-byes for next week’s Standard. Take a peek for some great tutorials and development sessions, and a new web-based resource for faculty.
Collaborate Tutorials for Students and Faculty – If you plan to use Blackboard Collaborate Ultra in the Fall, you can share this video tutorial with your students to give them tips for using collaborate. Faculty who want to up their collaborate chops can review recorded professional development sessions here. Just scroll to the very bottom of the page, look for “Remote Recess Sessions Archive” and pick from many topics!
The Future of Work Summit – Recorded sessions of the July 23rd – 27th Future of Work Summit are now available for ACC employees that weren’t able to attend the sessions live. I attended the Summit, and I found it very valuable. I highly recommend your taking the time to review sessions that you think are applicable to your work.
Childcare Promotion for Educators – Human Resources has asked us to share this promotion from the Guidepost Montessori School at Cypress Creek. This school provides care for children ages 18 months to 6 years, and is offering a free second month of tuition when you enroll by August 31st. For more information, click the link above.
New Action Items [please check due dates below!]
Faculty Portal – [feedback requested by September 30] – The Faculty Portal is now available for preview. Please take a peek and offer your feedback so that adjustments can be made for the final launch on Sept 30. We will all need to get in the habit of using the portal to find web resources rather than using the generic search on the ACC webpage. The web search caters to external audiences, and the Portal will aim to serve internal requests.
Current Action Items (These are reminders for things I’ve already sent out):
Teaching an on-campus class this summer session? Your feedback is requested! [due by end of summer session two] – Samantha Croft is the Senate representative on our “ACC Back to Campus” Committee. She asks that faculty who are currently teaching on ACC campuses provide feedback about how our current plans and processes for returning to campus are working. If you are teaching on campus right now, please send your feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org so she can bring them to the attention of the committee.
