  1. When do I need to apply for the Fall or Spring Semester Academy?

    Deadline for Fall Semester will be April 1st

    Deadline for the Spring Semester will be October 1st

    Late applications will be accepted and used to fill class as needed.

  2. How long is the Fire Academy?

    The Fire Academy is 17 weeks each Fall and Spring Semester, Monday-Friday from 8-5pm. PT (KINE 1145) will be 2 times a week from 6-7:15 am.

  3. How many hours of college credit do I receive?

    27 credit hours, Fire Academy graduates can articulate 12 semester hours to the Fire Protection AAS Degree.otection AAS Degree.

  4. How much does the Fire Academy cost?

  5. Will I become a certified Fire Fighter upon graduation?

    Yes, once you have completed all training requirements per TCFP and pass TCFP Basic FF test. Note-Cadets must have applicable Medical Training per TCFP

  6. Does the Fire Academy have dorms?

    No.

  7. Does the Fire Academy have EMT Training?

    No, however students may take EMT through ACC or other sources.

  8. What training certificates do I receive upon graduation?

    Upon graduation and successful completion of TCFP written final exam:

    • Texas Basic FF Certification
    • IFSAC FFI and FFII, Haz Mat Awareness and Ops (must submit applicable forms and payment)
    • Class B Driver’s License
    • NWCG S130/190 Basic Wildland FF
    • Trained to NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue I and Confined Space I
