My name is Rubi and this is my second year of college. I am the first in my family to graduate high school and attend college. My mother only attended school till the 7th grade. As a young single mother she had to spend a lot of her time working to provide a better future for my siblings and me. My mother didn’t have the same opportunity as me to continue her education. I want to make her proud by graduating from college to show her that all her days and nights working will finally pay off when she witnesses me walking across the stage to receive my college degree. I am a full-time student currently finishing up my pre-requisites for ACC’s ADN program and have intentions of majoring in nursing. My ultimate career goals are to achieve my MSN and become a nurse practitioner. I’ve had this dream ever since I was a little girl when I wanted to be a nurse and help others. Because of this program, I am able to be a step closer to accomplishing my goals. My family has shown so much support and this financial award will contribute to helping me with various costs during this school year. I have big dreams for myself with my career and education and I don’t intend to give up.
