Thomas – St. David’s Endowed Scholarship Recipient
After graduating from college in 2009 with a Kinesiology degree, I worked at a few local physical therapy clinics to build experience while volunteering for Austin Habitat for Humanity on the weekends. I soon decided to dedicate a few years of my life to assist others in building their home.
In 2012, I signed up for the AmeriCorps and chose Waco Habitat for Humanity. I enjoyed the work so much I committed to a second year with the program. All told, we built 12 homes for families in desperate need of shelter and a stable living environment. I have transferred my passion for helping others from building homes to rehabbing and improving the sick and injured in the Physical Therapy Assistant program at ACC. This award will enable me to complete the program, pursue my career in PTA, and continue to help others in need.
