RNSG 1443/1360 – Complex Concepts of Adult Health (CEC)


  • When: Monday, August 26, 2019, 9 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Where: CEC Room C1.114
  • What to bring: 1) Copy of Syllabus RNSG 1443 (available on Bb), 2) a signed copy of the 1443 (Theory) syllabus release form and 1360 (Clinical) syllabus release form, 3) clinical ticket (you must have this complete by the first day of class), and 4) calendar.
  • All students will be meeting on August 26 for the Dosage Calculation Test. This is a mandatory exam and will be a paper/pencil exam! You need to bring a calculator. You may not use your cell phone calculator.
  • In the event of severe weather, please check Blackboard and your ACC email for Orientation schedule change updates.

Class Schedule

  • When: Tuesdays 8 a.m. – 12 noon. Some lecture times have been adjusted for content, please refer to the calendar for specific times.
  • Where: CEC Room C1.114 (subject to change, refer to the CEC Reader Board for daily room assignments)
  • Calendar:  Level 2 CEC (Google Calendar)

Skills Labs

  • When and where: See the calendar for dates, times, and locations.
  • What to bring: Lab kit, IV notes, IV drug book
  • What to wear: Scrubs and closed-toed shoes

Dosage Calculation Test

  • When: Monday, August 26, 2019, 11 – 11:15 a.m. (during Orientation)
  • Where: CEC Room C1.114
  • What to bring: Please come prepared with a calculator and a pencil. You may not use your cell phone calculator.
  • You will be required to take a Dosage Calculation Test as part of course orientation. You must pass this exam with a minimum of 90% before you are allowed to administer medications in the clinical setting.

Level Mastery Skills Check-off

  • When: Wednesday, August 28, 2019, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Where: CEC Room C1.321. Please go to waiting room C1.302 prior to testing. (You will sign up for your check-off time at Orientation on August 26.)
  • What to bring: Please bring your lab kit and drug book with you.
  • The first comprehensive Mastery Skills Check-off will cover previously learned skills in Level 1. All students registered for Level 2 are required to be at the Mastery Skills Check-off. Students have up to three attempts to pass a Check-off; missing a check-off counts as an attempt.
  • You will be given a patient situation and must satisfactorily complete the assigned skills to continue in the course. You will be checked off on injections (IM, sub-q) plus one of the following skills: catheterization (male or female Foley) or NGT insertion (no tube feedings).

Clinical Schedule

The clinical groups, sites, times and days have not yet been finalized. Clinical assignment will be posted to Blackboard on Thursday, August 22. Your clinical instructor will contact you with additional information regarding your clinical medical/surgical rotation, so check your ACC email account often. Please keep in mind that although you might sign up for a particular instructor for clinical, you may be assigned to a different clinical group. Clinical placements are assigned and not subject to change once posted.
