Conference IV: The Dream and Its Cost

General Description

Austin Community College and St. Edward’s University announce the fourth annual Immigration, Education and Our Future Conference: The Dream and Its Cost. Based on requests from last year’s conference, participants will hear directly from undocumented students with reaction by legal counsel on immigration; and, obtain overall perspective on the influx of Mexican immigrants across our southern borders in context with how the US has handled past migration and immigration issues. The conference is more relevant today than ever before.

Conference Objectives

Participants will gain an understanding of

  • Undocumented immigrants, particularly college graduates, and loss-potential to the US and Texas.
  • Status report on the Dream ACT.
  • Report of proposed legislation impacting immigrants in Texas.
  • Presentation of content and information on the nature and context of immigration on Texas and the Southwest.
