History

ACC’s LGBT eQuity was founded in 2015 and exist to foster leadership within lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities at each and every one of our campuses district wide. In addition to advocating for LGBTQ+ students & hosting community wide events, the committee acts as an umbrella group for all LGBTQ+ initiatives at our institution. Events that the LGBT eQuity committee coordinates include: Homecoming OUT! A welcoming event for students, faculty and staff, Spirit Day: an anti-bullying campaign.

ACC’s LGBT eQuity Department will actively work to promote an inclusive environment for all while advocating for the underserved population within the community of people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions by facilitating district wide conversations in order to raise awareness, create visibility and to unity diverse communities while serving as a bridge between students and vital knowledge and resources.
