ACC Goes Interactive, Offering Virtual Tours to College Connection Participants

Austin, TX – Area high school students don’t even have to leave their campuses anymore to visit Austin Community College.

On Friday, Oct. 28, the college is hosting “ACC ALIVE: A College Connection Teletour” in which high school students participating in College Connection will be given virtual tours of ACC and have an opportunity to ask top administrators and ACC students questions about the community college experience. The teleconference will air live on Time-Warner Cable Channel 19, from 10:30 to 11:20 a.m.

“Visiting a college campus for the first time can be a very intimidating experience for high school students,” said Dr. Luanne Preston, executive director of Early College Start and College Connection. “Through a virtual tour, high school seniors can get a glimpse of college life in the comfort of their own classrooms.”

At least 28 high schools will have student representatives in the live audience. Viewers are invited to tune in to see the teletour which will highlight ACC campuses and offer advice from an expert panel of current students and college officials.

Recorded versions of “ACC ALIVE: A College Connection Teletour” will also air at later dates on cable Channel 19. The teleconference will be close-captioned. Videotaped versions of the show will be made available to high schools.
