More ACC Courses Transfer to Texas State University Than to Any Other Four-Year Institution in Texas

Austin Community College (ACC) and Texas State University are pleased to announce they have signed a formal agreement in which both institutions agree that coursework in 33 majors is equivalent. The new articulation agreement will assure ACC students that certain courses will transfer to Texas State University with no loss of credit.

“More than half of ACC’s students are earning credits for transfer,” said Dr. Robert Aguero, ACC President. “We believe making it easier for them to transfer to a four-year university is crucial to the completion of their degrees.”

The articulation agreement is published in the form of a transfer planning guide between ACC and Texas State. Under the new agreement, students wishing to transfer to Texas State would consult the transfer planning guide to guarantee the courses they plan to take at ACC will transfer.

“Our goal in the signing of this articulation agreement is to smooth
the transition from two-year college to four-year college to help as
many students as possible earn bachelor’s degrees. Well educated citizens are vital to the future of Texas and agreements such as these encourage students to succeed in college and in life,” said Denise Trauth, Texas State President.

In February of 1993, ACC and Texas State University (then Southwest Texas State University) signed an initial articulation agreement. Now fifteen years later, the agreement has been updated to include a total of 33 majors. Both institutions have also signed individual agreements for American Sign Language and Honor’s courses.
