Prairie View A&M President Visits ACC To Personally Recruit Students

WHAT: The Austin Community College African-American Cultural Center presents “Why Go to College?” an opportunity for students to hear testimonials from several distinguished African-American speakers, including Prairie View A&M President Dr. George C. Wright, on the difference college can make in someone’s life.

WHEN: Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: ACC Eastview Campus, Multi-purpose Room, #8500

WHY: The State’s Closing the Gaps Initiative points out an alarming trend in higher education: as African-American and Hispanic populations increase, college enrollment among these groups fails to keep pace. In his presentation, Dr. Wright hopes to encourage students to complete their work at ACC and begin to think about continuing their education at a four-year institution.

Dr. Wright will also acknowledge two former outstanding Prairie View A&M students who are now outstanding executives.
