Fine art has long been associated with money, but ACC student Nicole Richard has created a new organization that uses art to raise funds for SafePlace, which provides shelter for battered women and children.

“Artists for Austin” will be held at Tambaleo Lounge 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006. Along with live music and entertainment, the evening’s main event will be a silent auction for fine art, photography, sculptures and more. The deadline to provide digital photos of donated artwork for consideration is July 26.
