More Area High School Grads Choose ACC than Any Other College or University

More 2005 high school graduates in Travis, Williamson and Hays counties chose to enroll at Austin Community College in fall 2005 than at any other college or university in Texas, according to findings detailed in new numbers released by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and Texas Education Agency titled, Texas High School Graduates From FY 2005 Enrolled in Texas Public or Independent Higher Education Fall 2005.

More than half of the students enrolled in Texas higher education in fall
2005 were attending a community college. According to the Texas Higher
Education Coordinating Board, fall 2005 student enrollments at Texas two-year institutions totaled 574,775 compared to 490,742 enrolled at Texas public universities.

THECB also reports more than half of all entering college freshman, in Texas and across the nation, choose to begin at a community college for academic transfer or workforce education and training.
