Cypress Creek Campus Expansion Complete

The Austin Community College District (ACC) and Leander/Cedar Park community celebrated the dedication and grand opening of Building 2000 in the new outdoor plaza at the Cypress Creek Campus on Friday, March 2. Addressing the crowd of more than 100 were John Hernandez, chair of ACC District Board of Trustees; Dr. Stephen Kinslow, president and CEO of the ACC District; and Tom Glenn, superintendent of Leander ISD. A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed the presentation.
The Cypress Creek expansion adds 70,000 square feet of classroom and support space, more than doubling the size of the campus. The new building houses the student welcome center, administration, learning labs, library, computer labs, science labs, faculty offices and classrooms. The location of the new building creates a collegiate feel for the campus, with a student mall and an outdoor plaza between the existing and new buildings creating areas for outdoor dining, shaded lounging, group study and an amphitheater.
Construction of Building 2000 began in August 2005. The renovation of the existing Building 1000 will be complete by summer 2007.
