Historically Black Colleges to be Honored

Austin Community College’s African American Cultural Center and Office of Community Outreach is holding an event honoring historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) on Sunday, January 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberville Road.

An early kickoff to Black History Month, the event will raise awareness about HBCU offerings and cultural support. It will also focus on the impact of historically black colleges of today and tomorrow, as well as the contributions that HBCU have made and will make in the future. HBCU alumni are encouraged to attend.

Keynote speaker is Wilhelmina Delco, the first elected African American to the AISD board and a founding board member of ACC.

The event is free. For more information, contact Roland Hayes, director of the African American Cultural Center, at 223-5166.
