Austin, TX— Grab your dancing shoes! The Austin Community College chapter of the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) presents El Baile Alegre with Grammy Award-winning Tejano star Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution on Friday, February 29 from 7 p.m. until midnight at H&H Ballroom, 4404 Brandt Road.

The evening honors La Voz de Austin’s 25 Most Influential Hispanic Leaders and benefits the leaders of tomorrow. “We are raising scholarships for deserving Hispanic students at ACC,” said Dr. Richard Armenta, ACC TACHE chapter president. “El Baile Alegre is a festive way for everyone to participate in improving educational opportunities in the community.”

“Through their various careers, the leaders we honor have not only served to shape present-day Austin, but are the very role models of accomplishment and success to which our students aspire,” said John Hernandez, ACC Board of Trustees chair.

ACC is dedicated to closing the educational gaps among traditionally underserved populations by providing access to higher education, increasing enrollment, and focusing on student success. Together with the ACC TACHE chapter, the college is working to reach Hispanic Serving Institute status, 25 percent Hispanic student enrollment, by fall 2008 (23.5 percent/fall 2007).

El Baile Alegre is a fun-filled night with a purpose. Tickets are $25, available online at www.austincc.edu/tache or at Estrada Cleaners at 2618 E. 7th St.
