ACC’s Student Newspaper Accent earns Best of Show award at National Workshop

Accent, ACC’s student newspaper, won First Place in the Two-year College Newspaper Best of Show category at the National College Summer Journalism Workshop sponsored by the Associated College Press in Washington, D.C., July 31 – August 3, 2008. Accent’s editor, Elizabeth Carson, accepted the award for the newspaper at the workshop.

The Best of Show competition is held at all conventions and workshops sponsored by the Associated Collegiate Press. The Best of Show is on onsite judged award and is based on the newspaper’s overall excellence and evaluates all aspects of the publication, including journalism, editing, photography, and layout and design.

The Associated Collegiate Press is a division of the National Scholastic Press Association, a non-profit educational association based in Minnesota that provides journalism education services to students, teachers, media advisers and others throughout the United States and in other countries. NSPA and its divisions cooperate with other student media associations and other non-student groups and businesses that share its mission to educate and recognize the work of student journalists, to improve the quality of student media and to foster careers in media.
