Black Student Success Committee hosts gathering

Austin Community College is rolling out the Black Carpet with entertainment, prizes, and free food for its fall 2008 mixer at the Eastview Campus on Wednesday, September 17.

“The Black Carpet is a fun and fresh way for our African-American student base to find what we have to offer,” says Toniette Haynes Robinson, Student Life coordinator and event chair. “So many students are not aware of the resources that are here for them, so we try to give them some insight by hosting this.”

The Black Student Success Committee hosts the annual mixer to introduce students to an array of resources, programs and co-curricular activities available at ACC.

The Black Carpet is part of BSSC’s greater mission to develop initiatives that assist the college in improving the recruitment, retention, graduation, transfer, and continuing education of African-American students.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room 8500 of the Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberville Rd.
