Film screening explores questions on identity

What is gender? What attracts us to another person? Is it something subliminal and chemical tied to biological sex, or is it the mere perception of our lovers’ gender? Is sexual attraction and orientation innate, or is it learned?

Join the Austin Community College Arts and Humanities Division as it explores these questions of identity with a screening and discussion of the film “Boys Don’t Cry” from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, November 13, in Multipurpose Room 8500 of the Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberville Road.

“Boys Don’t Cry” is a 1999 independent film based on the real-life story of Brandon Teena, a transsexual who was raped and murdered by friends after they found out he had female genitalia.
