ACC’s Visual Communication Department Featured as Adobe Success Story

Students in Austin Community College’s Visual Communication Department are learning high-demand skills to help them land jobs in graphic design, animation, 3D and game design, and interactive and web development. Now a leading software company is recognizing the marketability of ACC Visual Communication students. Adobe Systems Incorporated spotlights ACC’s program in an article featured on the company’s website.

The article focuses on the major shift within Visual Communication from traditional classes to computer-based, eLearning programs.  Visual Communication coursework, delivered with Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro, gives ACC students cutting-edge knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite 4 software.

“Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection constitutes the backbone of our Visual Communication Department,” says Associate Professor William Rainey in the article. “Our program is part of the workforce education area, so industry requirements dictate what we teach, and that’s Adobe software.”

The use of Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro to facilitate learning has dramatically changed the way ACC instructors approach their classes. The software makes possible “media-rich” virtual courses, which include screen sharing and live interaction. Professors can hold virtual office hours, while students have the choice to attend a class live or access lectures online in a time and place more convenient for them. Enrollment in ACC’s program has skyrocketed since the implementation of eLearning classes.
