Students will see new improvements the next time they enter the Rio Grande Parking Garage. Here’s an update:
- The ACC Bookstore opens on the ground floor of the garage Monday, October 19. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays.
- An additional 64 student parking spaces, mostly located on Level 3, were added Wednesday, October 14. This brings the total number of student spaces to 410.
- Space has been set aside at the west ends of Levels 2-7 to ease vehicle turnaround and maneuvering.
The Facilities and Construction Department also plans to relocate the control access gates farther into the garage to improve maneuverability and shorten lines for vehicles entering the garage during peak times. That will be completed before January.

The new garage at RGC has been the best thing to happen to students at Rio Grande campus. I thought the turnaround lanes were smaller as compared to those on other campuses. Thanks to all the people when make it possible and are working on improving the garage experience.

When they first opened the garage, there were almost 3 full levels of teacher parking, I thought that this was just plain stupid. I think it’s awesome that they are taking some of the teacher spots and giving them to students, especially since I have NEVER seen the teacher lot full.

I love the new garage and with anything new the glitches that need changing or repair don’t show up untill the item is put in operation. That is the only true way problems can be located and fixed. Good job and thank’s to all connected to this project. My not having to make the trips around & around & around the campus to find a spot to park is a delight.

Safety Officer Gonzalez has been helpful and courteous. He’s always aware of the surroundings in the garage and making sure everyone’s following safety protocol.
