ACC has ended Pinnacle Campus shuttle service as the expanded parking lot nears completion.
The college used the shuttle to ease parking congestion due to recent enrollment growth that exceeded expectations. An average of 419 riders per day used the shuttle in fall 2009 and spring 2010.
Because fewer students will attend Pinnacle classes over the summer, there is no longer a need for shuttle service. By the time fall 2010 classes begin, the expanded parking lot will be open.
The new lot will provide 440 new parking spots, for a total of 979 spaces at Pinnacle. The project team expects that will accommodate students, faculty, and staff even at peak times of the day. The construction efforts also include another avenue to enter/exit Pinnacle property. Click here for updates on this parking project.

This parking lot is a joke! Also, it is one of the poorest designs I have ever seen. Of the new spots being created, how many of the older ones will get converted to handicapped?
The current lot only has about 10 or 12 spaces for handicapped parking and because of the poor design and limited availability, I had to arrive at campus between 8:00 and 8:30am to ensure I could even park in one, and my class didn’t even start until 10:40am!
I vowed never to take another class at this campus because of the lack of accommodations provided for disabled people, which really upset me because it is the closest campus to my home by far.

What about those that depend on the bus?

Johnnie: The Cap Metro bus route has not changed, so you can still take a bus directly to and from the Pinnacle Campus. (Pickup is behind the building.) The only change is the shuttle bus that ACC was using to transfer students/faculty/staff to and from the Albertson’s parking lot at Hwy 290/Hwy 71 is now no longer in service as it is no longer needed.
Thomas: Along with the increase in the parking capacity at the campus, the number of accessible spaces adjacent to the building will be increased to a total of 20.
