General Assembly: It’s Rodeo Time

General Assembly

It’s “Happy Trails” for the annual ACC General Assembly, which kicks off the new academic year for faculty, staff, and administrators on Friday, August 20, 2010.

The morning activities take place at the Hyatt Regency Austin, 208 Barton Springs. A country breakfast will be served, followed by presentations, awards, and a “State of the College” address by President/CEO Stephen B. Kinslow, Ph.D.

This year’s “Happy Trails” Western theme is in recognition of Dr. Kinslow’s plans to step down in June after six years as president and 34 years of service at ACC. So, cowboy up your attire. Prizes will be given to attendees sporting the best boots, best hat, and best bolo tie.

Afternoon activities shift to the Highland Business Center, 5930 Middle Fiskville, for workshops and other training opportunities. Registration is required and seating may be limited.

“General Assembly is always a great way to kick off a new academic year. But this year’s event is special, as it is Steve’s last one,” says Dr. Terry Mouchayleh, director of professional development and evaluation. “There will be a strong focus on ACC’s future, but we’ll have a lot of fun too.”

Parking at the Hyatt is free but limited. Carpooling is encouraged, and overflow parking is available at the Embassy Suites across from the Hyatt.
