If you drive a fuel-efficient, low-emission vehicle, you could be eligible to park in a limited number of preferred parking spots at each ACC campus. Spaces are limited, so a sticker does not necessarily guarantee you a preferred spot.

Some of us can’t afford to be terribly choosy about the car we drive or how “green” it is. You charge us for parking passes, and then we end up being late for classes because there isn’t enough parking. Something needs fixing, and it our carbon emissions.

Unfortunately, my 37+ Mpg older car doesn’t make the list.
Looks like a case of ‘those who can afford a new car’ getting priority parking.
Why not make a provision for high mileage low emissions older vehicles or for biodiesel?

I really feel this borders on discrimmination…you’re rewarding them for a choice they made. I, too, chose the model of car I drive, BUT I paid for a parking tag just like they did!!! Do I get any special privileges???
It’s very aggravating to see these “green” parking spots empty while I have to circle the parking lot waiting for an “un-green” spot to become avaiable.

How many “green” parking spots can there really be that all I read are complaints?
I personally don’t have an eco friendly car but letting them park closer as a “thank you” for making our world a bit clearner, is NOTHING for anyone to get jealous or cry out “discrimination” about.
If we were the ones with the closer spots, I don’t think anyone would say, “oh this is discrimination, let me park in the back”. Good for you “green” car drivers!

I like JP’s comment. At least if you drive around enough at Northridge eventually someone will leave. At Rio Grande you drive all the way to the top, try to figure out how to turn around just to come down and try to find some parking in the street and pay for meter or take your chances on a ticket. Tell me again why I paid $15 for a parking pass I don’t get to use?

This is all well and good, but how about make more parking spots available so we don’t have to drive around, and around in circles looking for an available spot? NorthRidge campus is horrible to find a spot! I have to leave my apartment that is 15-minutes away via freeway, an HOUR earlier, just so I’m not late for class because I know I’ll have to drive aimlessly around in circles hoping for a spot just on the campus itself. The fact that people are now having to park on the grass is horrible… I’d do the same, but I don’t want to chance a parking ticket!

wow!! really, you think that is discrimination?? Before I got a “green” car, I had no problem with it whatsoever. Plus, there is only like a total of 6 “green” parking spots in the whole campus so I think you’ll live Marciela…

Whats all the fuss about parking and the small parking fee ($15)? Students at other colleges and universities pay highier parking fee and they aren’t guaranteed a parking space. The green parking space are very few. If your so concerned with parking try taking public transporation, at least your able to receive a free bus pass to ride. Go Green!

I wonder how many more handicapped sites there would be if there weren’t any green sites?
Not everyone has a mommy and daddy who will buy them a green car. Some of us have older cars because we can’t afford newer high mpg cars.

The number of disabled parking spaces on ACC campuses is based on the Texas Accessibility Standards formula. If ACC did not participate in the green car initiative, drivers would not see an increase in the number of disabled or non-disabled parking spaces. There are very few green parking spaces. Green spaces aren’t closer on some campuses. I have a green car, but the green spaces are usually filled if I arrive after 11:00 a.m. I rarely get to park in one of them. I have to drive around like everyone else to try to find a parking space. We need more parking spaces, period.
