ACC Among Top CLEP Testing Centers Nationwide

The Austin Community College District now ranks among the top CLEP testing centers in the country.

CLEP, or College Level Examination Program, gives test takers an opportunity to earn college credit based on their knowledge in a variety of subject areas, such as composition and literature, foreign languages, science, math, business, and more.

From July 2009 through June 2010, ACC administered 520 CLEP exams. According to the College Board, which oversees CLEP, that’s the fifth highest number in the state as well as in the entire Southwest. The college ranked 25th in the country during that same period.

“ACC is pleased to give so many students this option, among the many we offer, to earn college credit,” says Mike Midgley, vice president of instruction. “Students save time and money, but even more importantly, by earning credits in this accelerated way, students can reach their educational goals more quickly.”

ACC has been one of the top 100 CLEP centers in the nation for the past five years.
