Congratulations, ACC Class of 2011!

ACC graduate Ana Mendez may be a little tired, but it’s all worth it.

“It feels great. I’m so excited,” says Mendez, who accepted a certificate in Photographic Technology during the college’s annual commencement. “I earned my certificate while working full time and not getting much sleep. It’s tough, but you can do it.”

Mendez and 460 other students walked across the stage at the Frank Erwin Center May 12 to accept their diplomas. | Read about this year’s Presidential Student Achievement Award winners.

ACC hit a milestone this year, with some 2,200 students from summer and fall 2010 and spring 2011 eligible to partipate in the graduation ceremony. State Sen. Kirk Watson served as commencement speaker and inspired students to work hard in their future endeavors.

“It feels great to finally graduate,” says Gabe Sierra, who earned an Associate of Applied Science in Management. “I’ve been working on my degree for 10 years. In those years, I worked full time, got married, and had kids. So my advice is to startas early as possible, and don’t give up! Anyone can succeed.”

Nursing graduate Maria Perez also offered some advice to future grads. “It’s a long journey. Keep going! ACC is right when they say, ‘Start Here. Get There.'”
