Grainger Foundation Donates $20,000 for ACC Scholarships

The Grainger Foundation donated $20,000 to the ACC Foundation to provide scholarships for the 2011-12 academic year for students in several of the college’s industrial trade programs. The ACC Foundation has awarded eight $2,500 scholarships to students in the Heating, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration Technology, Welding Technology, Building Construction Technology, and Automotive Technology programs.

Grainger representatives present ACC a $20,000 check to fund eight $2,500 scholarships for students in skilled trades programs.

“This generous donation from the Grainger Foundation helps ensure financial need will not be a barrier to students preparing for careers in these fields,” says Edwina Carrington, chair of the ACC Foundation. “We appreciate our partnership with Grainger and the company’s ongoing commitment to making higher education accessible for more students.”

Grainger, an industrial supply company, has been serving Texas businesses for over 75 years, providing supplies and equipment needed to keep their facilities running.

“We understand that one of the best ways to invest in the community is to contribute to the education of our workforce,” says Greg Roach, branch manager of Grainger’s North Austin location. “We are proud to partner with Austin Community College to support and encourage the next generation of skilled-trades leaders.”

Since 2009, the Grainger Foundation has contributed $65,000 to the ACC Foundation in support of technical education in the form of scholarships. To date, 18 students have received Grainger Scholarships.
