GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Mark your calendar for ACC’s General Assembly 2011 on Friday, August 19 at 8:00 a.m. It is at the Hyatt Regency Hotel downtown, 208 Barton Springs.

The morning session includes current state of the college remarks from Dr. Steve Kinslow and an overview of ACC’s future from incoming president, Dr. Richard Rhodes.  As always, professional development workshops and sessions will be offered in the afternoon at Highland Business Center.

CALCIUM CALENDAR TRANSITION TO GOOGLE CALENDAR IN FALL 2011

All Austin Community College faculty and staff transitioned to Google Apps for ACC in the spring semester of 2011.  Google Apps includes not only email, but a shared calendaring system that works across multiple platforms and devices.  The college’s previous online calendar, Calcium, will be set to read-only mode on August 31st, 2011.  Read-only mode means that faculty and staff will be able to view past events and export events, but not enter new dates. Calcium will be turned off completely during the 2011 winter break.

CHANGES TO ONLINE SERVICES SCREEN

In order to speed up ACC’s computer systems during peak periods such as registration and first day of class, IT is splitting Online Services onto multiple servers for Students, Continuing Education, Faculty, and Employees. Starting in August 2011, clicking the Online Services link on the ACC home page will take users to a “launch” screen for each of these four areas. Faculty, staff, and students just need to click on the appropriate link for the services they desire to access.
