McDonald’s Central Texas Donates $10,000 for ACC Scholarships

For the third consecutive year, McDonald’s Central Texas and the Austin Community College Foundation have partnered to award $10,000 in scholarships to ten students. Each received a McDonald’s Central Texas ACC Scholarship based on academic performance and financial need. Â

“McDonald’s Central Texas places a high value on education,” said Dan Kinney, McDonald’s owner/operator, Bastrop. “We are committed in helping make college more affordable for those who wish to attend but are prohibited by cost. We sincerely congratulate this year’s scholarship winners and look forward to what they will accomplish in their college careers and beyond.”

The ten students represent majors in accounting, general studies, engineering, education, nursing, and physics. The recipients include:

  • Rebecca Berry: Nursing, Bastrop High School
  • Keith Booher: Physics, McNeil High School (Austin)
  • Tara Boyum: General Studies, Hutto High School
  • Ricardo Commacho: Accounting, Del Valle High School
  • Austin Flora: Pre-Engineering, Crockett High School (Austin)
  • Allison Frueh: General Studies, John B. Connelly High School (Austin)
  • Giovanna Perez: General Studies, McCallum High School (Austin)
  • Eunice Robles: Education, Lockhart High School
  • Mara Rodriguez: Emergency Medical Service, Austin High School
  • Yareli Sillero: Criminal Justice Law Enforcement, Lockhart High School
  • Mary-Jo Urbano: Nursing, Manor High School
  • Serina Valerio: Visual Communications Graphic Design, homeschooled (Cedar Park)

To be eligible for the McDonald’s Central Texas ACC Scholarship, a student must be a high school graduate or recipient of a GED, achieve a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0, and demonstrate financial need as determined by the ACC Financial Aid Office.
