The award – for outstanding Texas heritage program/special – honored the season two premiere on historic Brenham, home of Blue Bell Ice Cream and birthplace of Texas. (Watch the winning episode.)
“Working on ‘The Daytripper’ is a terrific complement to what I do at ACC,” says Lozano. “I get to help educate the next generation of TV professionals as well as put my production skills to use for a fantastic show. Winning an Emmy is pretty much the icing on the cake.”
Lozano serves as a producer for the series, while Locklear is a former producer. He has since gone on to work on his own web series, called “Once You Leave.” Locklear also won a Lone Star Emmy for his work on season one of “The Daytripper.” The series uses several ACC students and alumni on the crew or as interns.
“It’s great to have our hard work on ‘The Daytripper’ recognized in this way,” says Locklear. “It’s definitely one of the highlights of my career, and the support of ACC and the RTF Department was invaluable. ‘The Daytripper’ has given many ACC students and alumni their start in the business.”
ACC is a sponsor of “The Daytripper,” which can be seen on KLRU on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m., Saturdays at 10 a.m., and Wednesdays at 5:30 a.m. It is now in its third season.
“We’re proud of our staff and how this recognition reflects their creative talent,” says Christian Raymond, chair of the RTF Department. “Industry partnerships of this nature are extremely rewarding for the students and staff involved, which ultimately benefits community viewers through a well-produced show like ‘The Daytripper.’ “Â
