Employee Charitable Campaign Raises Almost $58,000

The ACC community again has generously responded to those in need by contributing $57,875.31 through this year’s State Employee Charitable Campaign, surpassing last year’s total by almost 30 percent. The increase in contributions over last year was one of the largest year-to-year gains ever posted by the college.

“Our employees once again have opened their hearts in response to others, despite a difficult economy,” says Geraldine Tucker, ACC vice president of human resources. “Enhancing the communities we serve is part of ACC’s mission and is a priority of our employees. Our employees’ response in this campaign affirms that commitment.”

The October campaign collected donations for several local and national charities, including the Capital Area Food Bank, the American Red Cross of Central Texas, Manos de Cristo, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity. Almost $14,000 was donated to the ACC Foundation for scholarships and programs such as the Student Emergency Fund, which helps students deal with unforeseen emergencies or catastrophic events.

“The recent wildfires and other challenges in central Texas this year call attention to important role of the ACC Foundation,” Tucker adds.

The Riverside Campus collected the most donations, raising $11,598, followed by the Pinnacle Campus with $9,163, and the Highland Business Center with $8,849. Employees at the Round Rock Campus donated $105.48 in spare change to win the “Change for Charity” competition.
