ACC Executive Offices Named for Drs. John and Suanne Roueche

The Austin Community College District has named its executive offices in honor of Drs. John and Suanne Roueche, internationally known leaders in the community college movement.

L-R: Dr. Barbara Mink (ACC Board of Trustees chair), Dr. John Roueche, Dr. Richard Rhodes (ACC president/CEO), Dr. Suanne Roueche, and Edwina Carrington (ACC Foundation chair)

The Roueches made a significant donation to the ACC Foundation, with the funds used to establish an endowed scholarship. It is the largest donation by individuals to name a college office or building. The first scholarships from the endowment are set to be awarded this fall.

“We are extremely grateful to the Roueches for their gift, which will help students achieve their goals for many years to come,” says Edwina Carrington, chair of the ACC Foundation Board. “The executive offices are a wonderful reminder of their generosity.”

The Drs. John and Suanne Roueche Austin Community College Executive Offices are located at Highland Business Center. The ACC Foundation hosted a reception in the Roueches’ honor January 18; last fall, the college’s Board of Trustees officially approved the naming.

“This is a fitting tribute to two people so dedicated to community college success,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO. “The Roueches are instrumental in developing community college educators and leaders, and their work has lasting impact here at ACC and across the country.”

Dr. John Roueche is the director of the Community College Leadership Program (CCLP) at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds the Sid W. Richardson Regents Chair in Community College Leadership, the first endowed faculty position in the field of community college education. Dr. Suanne Roueche is a senior lecturer of educational administration at the University of Texas at Austin and editor of publications for the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD). The Roueches have mentored more than 200 community college CEOs. Five ACC presidents have graduated from CCLP, including Dr. Rhodes and former ACC president Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow.
