Center for Public Policy Hosts John Sharp at Annual Fundraiser

Chancellor John Sharp

The Austin Community College District’s Center for Public Policy and Political Studies (CPPPS) welcomes former Texas Comptroller and Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp as the keynote speaker at its annual lunchtime fundraiser. The event will be 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 25, at the Hilton Austin (500 East 4th St.).

Chancellor Sharp will address the relationship between the Texas A&M University System and community colleges as well as higher education priorities.

“This event is a great way to be an advocate for the center and to meet the students who benefit from the center’s many activities,” says Allen Kaplan, ACC trustee and CPPPS board member. “Every net dollar raised will support CPPPS programs.”

During the fundraiser, CPPPS will present Chancellor Sharp the “Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Award” for his decades of service to Texas and its students. In addition, the center’s student volunteer arm, the Center for Student Political Studies (CSPS), will recognize its graduates.

CPPPS, the nation’s first nonprofit public policy center at a community college, encourages students’ political and civic engagement through programs, internships, and conferences.
