Tee Up for Annual Golf Scramble Oct. 5

It’s that time of year again: ACC’s seventh annual Golf Scramble will be Friday, October 5, at the Riverside Campus golf course, 1020 Grove Blvd., Austin. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. for an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

Co-sponsored by SpawGlass, ACC’s Golf Scramble benefits the Student Emergency Fund, which provides aid to qualifying students if an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event threatens their ability to remain enrolled at ACC. To date, almost $84,000 has been distributed from the fund to help students with significant, uncovered medical costs or living expenses incurred after a natural disaster. Last year’s event raised almost $16,000 for the fund.

“Last year’s area wildfires demonstrated all too clearly why maintaining the Student Emergency Fund is so critical,” says John Hernandez, a former ACC Trustee and current ACC Foundation board member who founded the Golf Scramble. “We’ve seen first-hand how this resource can change students’ lives.”

Tournament participants are encouraged to register by Friday, September 28. The cost is $75 per player or $300 per foursome, which covers greens fees, cart, breakfast, lunch, and prizes. Sponsorship opportunities also are available. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place, as well as longest drive and closest to the pin.
