Student-Run Restaurants Open for Business

ACC’s Culinary Arts Program is ready to take you on a journey around the world, with student-run restaurants that offer something for every tastebud.

The fine dining restaurant Bistro 3158 is open Tuesday and Thursday evenings through Oct. 11 at Eastview Campus (3401 Webberville Rd., Room 3158). For $28, patrons can enjoy a five-course meal inspired by a region of the historic French empire. To view the menus and make a reservation (required for Bistro 3158), visit the Culinary Arts webpage.

Also open for business is the quick-service lunch café Le Bistrette, which serves American cuisine. Le Bistrette is open Mondays and Wednesdays through Oct. 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Eastview Campus, Room 3158. Reservations are not required.

The restaurants are part of the capstone classes for ACC’s Culinary Arts program, American Regional Cuisine and International Cuisine. Bistro 3158 and Le Bistrette give students practical, hands-on experience in all aspects of food service operations, from working at fast-paced kitchen stations to managing a restaurant.

“The students are always excited to have the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned,” says Chef Sandi Pepper, chair of the Culinary Arts department. “It’s great technical training, but it’s also gratifying to see how much the students and staff enjoy what we’ve prepared.”

The restaurants are open to the public. Gratuities are not accepted, but patrons are encouraged to fill out comment cards to assist students in the learning process.
