ACC President/CEO Dr. Richard Rhodes will don the giant hooped skirt as Mother Ginger in the Dec. 8 performance of Ballet Austin’s “The Nutcracker.” The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Long Center for the Performing Arts.
The holiday favorite is one of the city’s most beloved traditions, and the cameo appearances of local community leaders and celebrities in the Mother Ginger role is a highlight of each performance. Previous Mother Gingers have included State Sen. Kirk Watson, musician Sara Hickman, Luci Baines Johnson, Michael Dell, and former Gov. Ann Richards.
Ballet Austin is offering ACC students, faculty, and staff a 20 percent discount on tickets to the performance featuring Dr. Rhodes. Â To purchase the tickets, click here, and enter the code rrhodes when ordering.
ACC students also can purchase $10 “Student Rush” tickets on the day of performance. To receive the discount, students must show their ACC Student ID at the Long Center box office window one hour before the performance. Student Rush tickets are available on a first come, first served basis, and seating is limited. Students may purchase two tickets per valid ID and availability is not guaranteed.
