There is still time to donate to ACC’s fifth annual luggage drive for foster care alumni. While some luggage has already been donated, much more is needed to assist 80 graduating seniors.
When teenagers in foster care graduate from high school, they often leave their foster residences with nothing in which to carry their belongings. Each year, ACC collects new luggage and contributions toward the purchase of luggage to assist them.
“Many times, foster care alumni carry their belongings in a garbage bag or pillowcase,” says Loretta Edelen, director of community outreach. “A new piece of luggage can really help them with their transition to adulthood.”
Donations will be accepted through the spring semester. Luggage can be delivered to representatives at each campus; financial contributions are accepted at all campus cashier offices or online through ACC Marketplace.
