ACC special event: The Hays Groundbreaking

ACC has a host of special events, from groundbreaking to grand openings.

This year is a momentous time for Austin Community College. The 2013 calendar is packed with groundbreakings, grand openings, and the college’s 40th anniversary. Here’s a look at upcoming events. Stay tuned to the ACC Newsroom for more details.

Hays Campus Topping Out

March 5, 11 a.m.-Noon

Topping out is a construction rite that is celebrated near a building construction’s midpoint, when the last beam is placed at the top of a building. In honor of this tradition, Flintco and ACC will host a small ceremony at the Hays Campus site for construction workers, college officials, and a few other guests.

ACC Highland Math Emporium Groundbreaking

March 27

While the groundbreaking will be a small event, by ACC standards, the new facility will accomplish big things when it opens in fall 2014. See Highland’s New Future Begins With March Groundbreaking

ACC at Fredericksburg Registration Round Up

April 13, Noon-2 p.m.

ACC will be at the Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg to help Gillespie County residents enroll in college. Participants can complete the admissions process and learn about financial aid, Early College Start, and other pertinent topics.

ACC Elgin College Fair

June 1 (tentative), 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

ACC’s newest campus opens next fall in Elgin, and the college is inviting Bastrop county communities to get a sneak peak of the new facility. The ACC Elgin College Fair will showcase college programs and services, with ACC representatives on hand to answer questions and assist prospective students. As a bonus, visitors can attend the Elgin Business Expo adjacent to the ACC event to learn more about what the community has to offer.

Elgin Campus Grand Opening

(fall date to be determined)

The college will celebrate the opening of the new campus with speakers and special guests. A tentative course schedule already has been posted.

ACC 40th Anniversary Celebration

(tentative)

ACC turns 40 this year, giving the college yet another reason to celebrate. The ACC History Committee, headed by Dr. William Montgomery, is collecting and organizing college artifacts and memories. Meanwhile, look for an announcement soon of an ad hoc event committee to plan a special community celebration.
