Celebrate Texas Independence at Eastview Campus March 4

Austin Community College will mark Texas Independence Day with a multicultural celebration Monday, March 4. The event will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Eastview Campus (3401 Webberville Rd., Room 8500).

Students, faculty, and staff will enjoy music, food, and presentations reflecting on this key period in Texas history. March 2 is the 177th anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence, signifying Texas’ separation from Mexico and the founding of the Republic of Texas.

Guest speakers will include former State Senator Gonzalo Barrientos, History Professor Dr. David Lauderback, History Professor Dr. Mariano Diaz Miranda, and ACC Board of Trustees Chair Jeffrey Richard.

The celebration is presented by ACC’s Center for Public Policy and Political Studies, its Center for Student Political Studies, and the Salt Lick.
